If you like cycling, why not hire a bicycle from Tony found at Buth Bharraidh in Castlebay and enjoy a leisurely cycle around some of the most stunning landscapes in Scotland.


FISHING

Enjoy a Day Trip on board the 'Boy James' sea angling, dolphin spotting - or - enjoy some 'fly fishing' on one of our many Lochs, no permit required - or - spend some relaxing time rock fishing off the nearest point.

WATERSPORTS

WALKING

Enjoy a quiet relaxing stroll on one of our pure white sandy beaches, or for the more strenuous, take in the Vatersay Beach Circuit approximately 5 miles.


HERITAGE CENTRE

Visit our Local Heritage Centre found beside the Primary School in Castlebay. Transport yourself back in time with Photographic Displays.


KISIMUL CASTLE

Unfortunately, the Castle is not available for visits. Boat trips run from Castlebay Marina around the Castle. Historic Environment Scotland have an 'Information Centre' based in Castlebay.


BUTH BHARRAIDH

Visit Buth Bharraidh where you can find local produce, arts & crafts and visitor centre. www.buth Bharraidh

From Barra Airport www.loganair.co.uk

From Airport carpark turn left onto the main road and then approximately 3 miles later, turn right at Northbay T-junction. Drive approximately 5 miles taking a right turn into Nask and onwards to Vatersay. Driving approximately 5 miles, crossing the Causeway over to Vatersay. 

Vatersay School is on the right hand side as you approach the head of a sandy bay.


From mainland ferry www.calmac.co.uk

As you drive off the ferry, turn left at the top of the pier road. Drive on the A888 for approximately 3/4 mile. Take a left turn into Nasg and onwards to Vatersay.   Drive approximately 5 miles, crossing the Causeway over to Vatersay. 

Vatersay School is on the right hand side as you approach the head of a sandy bay.
